Basic Effects

The Basic Effects rack contains a chain of five essential audio processors: EQ3, EQV, Compressor, De-esser, and Reverb. You can turn the entire rack on or off using the power button next to the "Basic effects" title.

Basic Effects in ACE Studio.

EQ3

A simple yet effective 3-band equalizer for general tone shaping.

  • Low: Adjusts the volume of the bass frequencies.

  • Mid: Adjusts the volume of the middle-range frequencies.

  • High: Adjusts the volume of the treble frequencies.

Drag each knob clockwise to boost (increase volume) or counter-clockwise to cut (decrease volume) the corresponding frequency band. Double-click a knob to reset it to 0 dB.

EQV (Vocal EQ)

A preset-based equalizer optimized for vocals. Choose one of the four presets that best suits your track's role in the mix.

  • Lead: A standard setting for lead vocals, with a gentle low-cut and high-shelf boost to help it stand out.

  • Bright: Provides a stronger high-frequency boost and a higher low-cut, ideal for a brighter, more airy vocal sound.

  • Backing: Designed for backing vocals or harmonies, with reduced low and mid frequencies to prevent clashing with the lead vocal.

  • Choir: Tailored for choir tracks, featuring a wider high-pass filter to clean up low-end rumble and a focus on clarity.

Compressor

Reduces the volume difference between the loudest and quietest parts of your audio for a more controlled sound.

  • Threshold Slider: Drag the slider to set the level at which the compressor starts working. The meter shows how much the volume is being reduced in real-time.

  • Gain: After compression, the overall volume might be lower. Use this knob to boost the signal back up.

De-esser

Tames harsh "s," "sh," and "t" sounds (sibilance) in vocal recordings.

  • Threshold Slider: Sets how sensitive the de-esser is. The more you lower the threshold, the more sibilance will be reduced.

  • Frequency: Use this knob to pinpoint the exact frequency of the harshness. A common range is between 4kHz and 8kHz.

  • Listen Button: Click this to temporarily listen to only the frequencies the de-esser is affecting. This makes it much easier to find the right frequency to cut.

Reverb

Adds a sense of acoustic space to your track.

  • Preset Selector: Use the < and > arrows to cycle through different types of reverb spaces. You can select 4 reverb presets:

    • Room

    • Hall

    • Church

    • Cinematic

  • Dry/Wet: Controls the balance between the original, unprocessed signal ("Dry") and the reverb effect ("Wet"). At 0%, you hear no reverb. At 100%, you hear only the reverb. A setting of 10% means the final sound is 90% dry signal and 10% wet signal.

Room Effect

Note: The Room Effect is available exclusively on Singer Tracks.

The Room Effect is a special reverb designed to simulate placing the virtual singers in a physical acoustic space, adding realistic depth and dimension to the choir sound.

This effect relies on a third-party component that you'll be prompted to install when first activating choir mode.

At the center of room effect, there shows the virtual recording space, each spot with color represents one voice in the choir.

  • You can arrange the voice position by dragging. The distance between choir and the dash line is how close to the mic.

  • At the right top corner, you can set up the size of the recording room.

    • 8m X 8m - Studio room

    • 16m X 16m - Choir hall

    • 30m X 30m - Church
