# Add a Breath

Just like human singers, adding a breath at the beginning of a sentence usually brings much natural result, especially for a long sentence or high notes.

The first tab of [Vocal Controls](https://app.gitbook.com/s/sn71WYzecYYQw3KkF40b/ai-vocal-synth/creating-ai-vocals/vocal-controls) is breath, where you can add a breath at the beginning of each line.

Click on the dark purple area to add a breath.

You can adjust the duration by dragging on the left edge of a breath note.
