Emotion Controls

Adjust vocal parameters for earlier ACE Studio vocal synth models using Emotion Controls.

Emotion controls are supported by vocal synth models of Verse24 and earlier. If you are using models of Verse25 and later, please refer to Vocal Controls. To learn more about the differences between various model versions, please refer to Vocal Synth Models.

What Are Emotion Parameters

Emotion parameters will be generated by AI based on the singing style of the current AI voice. You can modify them with envelope or rewrite them directly.

The Emotion Controls parameters in ACE Studio, such as Flasetto, Tension, and Energy, for adjusting vocal style.

Parameters

Air

This is to control the airiness of the vocal. You can make the vocal more raspy or bright by increasing this parameter.

  • You can slightly increase air when it comes to the powerful part.

  • We recommend just making a slight change on this, extreme values might result in unexpected performance.

Falsetto

This is to control the amount of falsetto of the vocal.

  • When the key is low, increasing the falsetto might not bring much falsetto as expected.

  • If you want more falsetto, we recommend decreasing tension at the same time for a better result.

  • We recommend just making a slight change on this, extreme values might result in unexpected performance.

Tension

This is to control the softness of the vocal.

  • Lower this value, the vocal will be softer. Increase this value, the vocal will be tight.

  • We recommend just making a slight change on this, extreme values might result in unexpected performance.

Energy

This is to control the power of the vocal.

  • This parameter is not just volume of the sound.

  • If you want a gentle sound, we recommend decreasing tension at the same time.

Editing Envelopes

Editing an Emotion Control envelope in ACE Studio.

You can modify the envelope for each parameter by default. There are 4 tools at left side for editing the envelop.

  • Lifting tool - drag vertically to increase or decrease the value. You can modify a certain range by creating a selection on the grid. Hold Shift to modify the whole range of the clip.

  • Brush - You can directly draw the envelope. Use right click to erase.

  • Eraser - You can erase the envelope back to value 1x.

  • Line tool - drag to create a straight line for the envelope.

Editing Real Parameters

Using the 'Real Parameter' mode in ACE Studio to directly edit the generated vocal synthesis data.

Click on the “Par.” button at left to switch to real parameter mode. You can directly change the parameter.

Just like AI pitch, the real parameters are generated by AI based on the singing style of the current AI voice, melody, lyrics, and pitch. Any changes to these elements will result in the regeneration of each parameter. AI generates AI parameters piece by piece, even you just change one lyric in a piece, all AI parameters in this piece will be regenerated. These parameters are like representations of the audio waveform in different dimensions.

We recommend just modify the envelopes in most of the case. If you want a precise value, you can edit under this mode.

  • Fixed brush - just AI pitch, you can lock down some parts of the parameter, so they won’t change after doing any changes on the original elements.

Formant

Formant is a basic parameter of sound design.

  • Higher this value, the vocal will become more like female or kid.

  • Lower this value, the vocal will become heavier.
