Editng Lyrics

Discover how to input lyrics for your AI vocals in ACE Studio.

Enter lyrics for your melody to generate an AI vocal. The lyric system follows these rules:

  • If a note has no lyric, ACE Studio uses a default lyrics.

  • Each note corresponds to one syllable only.

  • You can use a "-" (dash) to indicate a melismatic note, allowing the previous syllable to extend across multiple notes without adding a new syllable.

Edit Lyrics

There are 3 ways to edit lyrics:

Edit line by line

Typing lyrics line-by-line below in ACE Studio piano roll.

Click on the text line below notes to type in lyrics line by line.

  • Press Enter or click outside of the text box to apply these lyrics.

  • By applying these lyrics, they will be split into syllables and those syllables will be filled into syllabic notes one by one.

    • If the number of syllables is larger than syllabic notes, the extra syllables will take place on existing melismatic notes until all melismatic notes are used, then the rest syllables will be discarded.

    • "_" (underscore) shows an empty lyric.

Edit on a note

Editing a lyric by double-clicking a single note within the ACE Studio piano roll.

Double-click a note to enter lyrics. ACE Studio splits the text into syllables and assigns them to the current note and the following notes in order.

  • Press Enter or click outside the text box to apply the lyrics.

  • By applying these lyrics, all content you type in will replace the original lyrics on notes, including "-"(dash).

  • Press Tab to move to the next note.

  • If a syllable is unsupported or unrecognized in the selected language, that note is synthesized with the default syllable (e.g., “da”).

This method is for correcting the lyrics of individual notes. We recommend using the line-by-line method to edit the entire lyrics.

Note Languages

Each note has its own language attribute. When a lyric of another language being filled into a note, the language of this note will switch to the new one.

If lyrics with a mismatched language are entered on the note, a red warning indicator will appear above the note.

To learn more details about languages, please refer to Singing Languages.

Edit Phonemes and Consonants

Every syllable is built around a single vowel and can include consonants. Since each note represents one syllable, it also contains one vowel and its associated consonants.

Edit Phonemes

Phonemes are the most basic pronunciation information in vocal synthesis. Phonemes are automatically recognized based on the lyrics and displayed above each note. Generally, you don't need to edit them manually. You can also double-click to edit them.

If you want to manually edit phonemes, you can refer to the standard phoneme dictionary for each language in Phoneme Dictionary.

Tip: "cl" represents a voiceless sound or a glottal stop used in Japanese to indicate a brief pause or rhythmic separation in speech or singing.

Pre/Post Consonants

Consonants are darker box at both side of a note.

  • A pre consonant is positioned before the note, just outside the left boundary of the note.

  • A post consonant is positioned at the end of the note, but within the right boundary of the note.

The duration of consonant pronunciation is often an important factor influencing accents.

  • AI will generate the duration for each consonant based on the accent of AI voice being used on track.

  • To adjust the duration of a consonant, just simply drag on its left boundary.

The durations of consonants will be fixed once they have been generated by AI, unless you change them manually or change the lyrics. For example, you have a MIDI clip with lyrics on notes, and you let AI generate the vocal by starting the playback. At this moment, the durations of consonants are fixed and you can see the darker boxes around notes. These durations come from the accent of the current AI voice on the track, if you want to change the AI voice, you can clear all the durations of consonants by selecting all notes and click “Clear all consonants” from the right-click menu.

Voiceless Consonants

Consonants like “s, t, k, p, b, etc.” are voiceless consonants. They produce sound through the airflow in mouth rather than through the vocal cords, so usually they don’t have pitch.
