ACE Studio 2.0 is currently in beta testing, and some features may not be fully launched.

Editing Pitch

Refine pitch for precise vocal expression in ACE Studio.

AI Pitch/User Pitch

There are 2 types of pitch curve in ACE Studio:

  • AI Pitch: AI will generate the pitch based on the current notes, lyrics, and the AI voice. AI pitch displayed as a dark curve under pitch editing mode.

  • User Pitch: The user-edited pitch curve will override the AI pitch. User pitch displayed as a white curve under pitch editing mode.

Pitch Tools

There are 6 pitch tools to draw, fix, erase, fine-tune pitch curves:

Pitch Brush

Pitch brush is the basic tool for rewriting the pitch curve. (shortcut key 1 )

When you select this tool, the piano roll will turn into the pitch editing mode, where you can see AI pitch as dark curve and user pitch as white curve.

With this tool, you can simply draw user pitch curves.

  • Use left click to draw user pitch.

  • Use right click to erase user pitch.

Pitch Anchor

Pitch anchor is a more mouse-friendly tool for drawing pitch curves.

Click on the pitch brush to open the drop down, where you can switch to the pitch anchor tool.

Double click to place the first anchor, then click to add the following anchors, right click to end this curve.

You can drag a selection box to select anchors, and move or delete them.

Fixed Brush

Fixed brush is a tool can lock certain parts of the AI pitch as user pitch. (shortcut key 2 )

AI pitch is generated based on the AI voice, melody, and lyrics. Any changes to these elements will result in the regeneration of AI pitch. AI generates AI pitch piece by piece, even you just change one lyric in a piece, all AI pitch in this piece will be regenerated. Using the fixed brush helps prevent unexpected change to the pitch curve.

Pitch Eraser

Pitch eraser is a tool that can erase any user pitch, including pitch anchors. (shortcut key 3 )

Vibrato

Vibrato is a tool that can add a vibrato on a note. (shortcut key 4 )

To create a vibrato, just simply drag on a note from right to left. Before releasing your mouse, drag horizontally to adjust the length, drag vertically to adjust the amplitude (how big the vibrato is).

After releasing, you can see the handles of all parameters:

  • Amplitude - drag the square at the top left corner vertically to modify

  • Phase - drag the handle at the left bottom corner horizontally to modify

  • Frequency - drag the handle at the right bottom corner horizontally to modify

  • Envelopes (attack and release) - drag the to circles in the middle to control the envelopes

Under this tool, you can drag a selection box to select one to more vibratos, then you can delete them.

Tip: Usually, for a longer note, the AI pitch already has a vibrato. In this case, if you add an extra vibrato on it, the final pitch would be in chaos. You can draw a flat user pitch first, then add a vibrato on it to make the result more natural.

Modulation

Modulation is a tool that can control the dynamic range of pitch curve. (shortcut key 5 )

Drag on a note vertically to control the dynamic.

  • Drag down to make the pitch more flat

  • Drag up for the opposite

Unvoiced Pitch

Dash pitch curve is voiceless pitch, this means the sound of this part is voiceless (breathy voice or aspirated sound).

When you are drawing pitch curve on voiceless consonants or blank area without any AI pitch, you will draw voiceless pitch by default.

  • To draw voiceless pitch, hold Alt / ⌥ Option while drawing.

  • To force drawing voice pitch anywhere, hold Shift + Alt / ⌥ Option while drawing.
