Grid and Snap

A note automatically snapping to the grid in ACE Studio, demonstrating the Grid and Snap feature.

Set up Grid and Snap to control how notes align with the grid. This ensures precision when editing melody.

  • Auto-Narrow: Automatically adjusts the grid size to narrow spacing based on the zoom level of the piano roll.

  • Auto-Medium (default): Automatically adjusts the grid size to medium spacing based on the zoom level of the piano roll.

  • Auto-Wide: Automatically adjusts the grid size to wide spacing based on the zoom level of the piano roll.

  • 1-16 Cell/Beat: Divides each beat into 1-16 grid cell.

  • Snap off: Disables snapping to the grid. Allows free placement of notes and events without alignment to the timeline.

Monophonic

In a vocal track, each vocal clip can only support monophonic content (solo melody).

  • When notes overlap by being moved, the left one will be cut to avoid overlapping.

  • When importing a MIDI file, all overlapped notes will be turned into melismatic notes.

The length of a note also has a maximum limit. The maximum note length supported by different synthesis models varies, as detailed below:

  • In Verse25, the note length should be less than 20s.

  • In Verse24 and earlier, the note length should be less than 18s.
